Bohlin Cywinski Jackson has been honored with the Good Design is Good Business Lifetime Achievement Architecture Award, presented by Architectural Record in association with the American Architectural Foundation. The firm is the second recipient of this award in the program’s 15-year history, which was originally started by BusinessWeek and Architectural Record to recognize exceptional contributions to bettering how businesses and institutions perform through architecture.
According to Cathleen McGuigan, Architectural Record editor-in-chief and GreenSource editorial director, "The design leadership exhibited by our winner has been exceptional [...] We honor them for developing solutions that will make companies more relevant and successful in a global culture that increasingly demands environmental stewardship and social responsibility."
In response to receiving the award, founding principal Peter Bohlin said, “We spend most of our daily lives in buildings, and we believe in making architecture that helps people feel connected to a place, to their work and to each other. We are delighted to be recognized with this honor.”
Bohlin Cywinski Jackson was honored at the 2013 Accent on Architecture Gala, held annually at the Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium in Washington, DC, as a celebration of leadership in architecture and design.
Bohlin Cywinski Jackson has received more than 550 regional, national, and international awards for design. The practice has won multiple awards for sustainable design, as well as the Architecture Firm Award from the American Institute of Architects. In addition, in 2010, founder Peter Bohlin received the American Institute of Architects’ Gold Medal, the highest honor for lifetime achievement.
